Loadbearing masonry buildings are still a popular choice for commercial developments which do not need open interiors, such as many hotels and appartment blocks. For this type of building, the loading is distributed relatively evenly through the walls and therefore strip footings or trench fill foundations are normally satisfactory, providing the ground conditions are reasonable.
Our foundation design is for loadbearing masonry buildings of up to four stories. If the building has more than four stories then please contact us for a personalised quotation. Our price is for each wall which will have a foundation, so it there are 5 walls just select 5 from the quantity box at the checkout.
We need the following information to design this type of foundation:
architectural layouts and elevations of the proposed building
architectural elevations
details of the type of construction
details of the way the floor beams span (if this has not been decided we can make the necessary assumptions)
details of the ground conditions on the site
the distance between the foundations and any adjacent boundary
Design information
If no site investigation information is available then we can still design the foundations based on assumptions that will need to be verified on site prior to construction
All design work is carried out in accordance with BS 8110 (The structural use of concrete) and BS 8004:1986 (The code of practice for foundations)
You should satisfy yourself that the excavation for the foundations will not undermine any adjacent foundations or neighbouring ground
Excavations may fall under the Party Wall Act Please seek specialist advice.
